I had just one last antique compact I wanted to salvage the petit point top from. It was a big piece and again I wasn't willing to cut off several stitched rows just to make a smaller cushion.
Actually, I have stitched a RL needle point cushion that is this big. So I thought why not have a big one in miniature. I can see someone leaning back against that big pillow reading a book in bed. :-)
Have a great weekend everyone! I hope you will have time for a few miniature projects of your own.
I think the larger size works very well in the setting. It's so great you are able to give these pieces new life. :]
ReplyDeleteThank you Brae.
DeleteTaking apart a compact for a nice piece of petit point sure doesn't take the life out of me like stitching one does. haha
What a painstaking and nice work!
ReplyDeletehugs
Thank you Claude.
DeleteWow! So beautiful and hard to believe how tiny this must be in real life!
ReplyDeleteHugs
Di xx
So nice to have a visit from you Di. Thank you. They are a bit smaller then the photos.
Delete¡Preciosos!
ReplyDeleteMuchas gracias Isabel.
DeleteHi Catherine, What a wonderful find. So glad you could use the whole piece, it looks lovely.
ReplyDeleteStill keeping my eyes open for a piece at the thrift stores.
No luck yet.
Regards and all the best.
Janine
Thank you Janine.
DeleteKeep looking, you'll find one. So much easier then stitching one. Plus it is very hard to get that antique look with the treads you can buy to stitch with now. The colors just don't have that sort of look to them.
Ooooh, I think I like the big cushion best of all! I have big cushions like that for sitting on the floor... ! The pattern of the roses looks just wonderful with the other cushions too.
ReplyDeleteThank you Betsy. I rather like the big one myself.
DeleteI used to have huge floor cushions. I loved them!
The newest one is gorgeous! And works very well with the others, what a beautiful scene you've photographed :)
ReplyDeleteThank yo Linda. They do seem to play well with each other. ;-)
DeleteI particularly LOVE an oversized cushion.....it is a bit like drapes that are 'puddled'.....it gives a sense of luxury and expense.....I adore ALL of your cushions, they all work so wonderfully well together.
ReplyDeleteLinda xxxxx
Thank you Linda.
DeleteI never would have thought you would like puddled curtains. Not that they aren't gorgeous! It is just that they are dust catchers.
Speaking for myself... I prefer indoors shutters to curtains in RL for that reason among others.
XXXXXX Hope you are having fun.
What a lovely cushion! It must ne laborious to make but definitely worth it!
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteSometimes they are hard to get off the compact. For some odd reason they always glue them on (around the edges) with a midnight black shinny glue. It is as hard as rock!
Magnifique travail, tout est beau, le motif, les couleurs, la forme, ces coussins forment un superbe ensemble.
ReplyDeleteMerci beaucoup. Je suis heureux que vous les aimez tous.
DeleteHello, Catherine! Pillows are delicious! Different sizes make them even more realistic, just like in real life. Patterns are fantastically beautiful. I want to throw everything and embroider.
ReplyDeleteThank you very much. I am glad you like all the different sizes and patterns.
DeleteI was a bit worried about another pattern with roses but I think they are different enough that it's OK.
Catherine, we are having heaps of fun.....but my emails to you keep getting returned!!
ReplyDeleteOh yes....give me shutters any day....love them!!!
I wondered why you weren't responding to my emails. I cannot imagine what could be wrong.
DeleteIt is great to hear you are having a good time.
I hope this email business rights itself from Hobart.
Your latest cushion works very well with the others. Personally, I think a bed looks dressed when it has a selection of cushions on it and I would happily spend hours snuggled into them with a good book :0)
ReplyDeleteThank you Pepper. I love lots of cushions on a bed too.
DeleteHi Catherine!
ReplyDeleteI can't stop Grinning like a Cheshire Cat, because not only have you found yet another PERFECT use for your vintage petit point, but that it fits like a glove among your own precious needle work! :D
The tiny stitches of the over-sized pillow and the muted colors of its florals, make a wonderful harmony, while it's larger size bolsters the beauty of the smaller cushions which it supports.
It all looks so Dreamy and Romantic!
How delightful- to wake up every morning in such a Beautiful Bed of Roses ....
Elizabeth you should be a writer/poet! :-)) haha
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for your kind comment.
Absolutely stunning piece and it works perfectly with the other pillows. A love huge pillows and I have some on my bed. I'd particularly love one like this. The colours are just to die for
ReplyDeleteThank you Rosanna. I bought that compact because I loved the colors too. :-)
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely amazing new cushion and they go so well together.

Your pillows are stunning Catherine, of course, and the last big fellow is my favourite, not too big at all!
