This is the last one.

I had just one last antique compact I wanted to salvage the petit point top from. It was a big piece and again I wasn't willing to cut off several stitched rows just to make a smaller cushion.

Actually, I have stitched a RL needle point cushion that is this big. So I thought why not have a big one in miniature. I can see someone leaning back against that big pillow reading a book in bed. :-)

Have a great weekend everyone! I hope you will have time for a few miniature projects of your own.

  1. I think the larger size works very well in the setting. It's so great you are able to give these pieces new life. :]

    1. Thank you Brae.
Taking apart a compact for a nice piece of petit point sure doesn't take the life out of me like stitching one does. haha

  4. Hi Catherine, What a wonderful find. So glad you could use the whole piece, it looks lovely.
Still keeping my eyes open for a piece at the thrift stores.
    No luck yet.

Keep looking, you'll find one. So much easier then stitching one. Plus it is very hard to get that antique look with the treads you can buy to stitch with now. The colors just don't have that sort of look to them.

  5. Ooooh, I think I like the big cushion best of all! I have big cushions like that for sitting on the floor... ! The pattern of the roses looks just wonderful with the other cushions too.

  7. I particularly LOVE an oversized cushion.....it is a bit like drapes that are 'puddled'.....it gives a sense of luxury and expense.....I adore ALL of your cushions, they all work so wonderfully well together.

I never would have thought you would like puddled curtains. Not that they aren't gorgeous! It is just that they are dust catchers.
Speaking for myself... I prefer indoors shutters to curtains in RL for that reason among others.
XXXXXX Hope you are having fun.

Sometimes they are hard to get off the compact. For some odd reason they always glue them on (around the edges) with a midnight black shinny glue. It is as hard as rock!

  10. Hello, Catherine! Pillows are delicious! Different sizes make them even more realistic, just like in real life. Patterns are fantastically beautiful. I want to throw everything and embroider.

    1. Thank you very much. I am glad you like all the different sizes and patterns.
I was a bit worried about another pattern with roses but I think they are different enough that it's OK.

  12. Your latest cushion works very well with the others. Personally, I think a bed looks dressed when it has a selection of cushions on it and I would happily spend hours snuggled into them with a good book :0)

  13. Hi Catherine!
I can't stop Grinning like a Cheshire Cat, because not only have you found yet another PERFECT use for your vintage petit point, but that it fits like a glove among your own precious needle work! :D
The tiny stitches of the over-sized pillow and the muted colors of its florals, make a wonderful harmony, while it's larger size bolsters the beauty of the smaller cushions which it supports.
It all looks so Dreamy and Romantic!
How delightful- to wake up every morning in such a Beautiful Bed of Roses ....
