Not much totally astonishes me but these lace doilies sure did. I was afraid I would tear them just taking them out of the glass envelopes they arrived in. They were a birthday gift from my dear friend Linda Carswell. http://une-petite-folie.blogspot.com/
Spider silk comes to mind when I look at how fine the threads are. My first thought was that they would be beautiful framed on a black back ground in gold leaf frames. I want to hang them in the master bedroom. All three frames in the same place.Perhaps over the bed with the square one being in the middle. What do you think?
Please don't ask me where she found these beautiful lace doilies. A girl has a right to a few secrets, so I didn't ask either. :-)
Thank you so very much Linda!!!! I am delighted and thrilled to bits with these gorgeous pieces.

ReplyDeleteGeneviève
They are gorgeous.

Sharon... Yes, they are paper but they are so fine it is almost impossible to tell it. Even when you hold them in your hand and look at them through a strong magnifier you are still left with your mouth hanging open. You cannot imagine how real they look in person. Maybe I should have photographed them in a miniature scene but the details would have been completely lost.
ReplyDeleteOh these are astonishing! So beautiful and precious!
ReplyDeleteMarvellous, adorable, astonishing...! Love them!

They are so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteAbsolute masterpieces.
lucky you
Alexandra
Incredible!!!
ReplyDeleteI am so happy you like these....it is getting increasingly difficult to find something a little different and 'original'!!! I was blown away by the detail....plus like you, I also enjoy the colour of the reverse side, it looks a little more aged and antique.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy X
exquisite!
ReplyDeleteIncredibles!
ReplyDeleteA hug
My goodness, made of PAPER??!! I could have sworn they were thread! What a unique and original gift. Happy Birthday!
ReplyDeleteSusan, You would still swear they were made of thread if you held them in your hand.
ReplyDeleteLinda, I photographed the whiter side because it looked better against the black but I LOVE the other side for the antique colors.
That's what I thought when I saw them, that they were made of thread. They are exquisite, so delicate! Beautiful gift.

Every rare once in a while, you can find items like these on ebay or on etsy... I've always found out way too late unfortunately! lol
Catherine, I'm delighted you have them as I know you will treasure them, as they should be. :)
i saw them at the dolls fair in Arnhem this weekend; they blew me away and i was left in awe... how good your pics may be, only when you see objects like these, so fine, delicate and exquisite, with your own two eyes you believe they are real Wonderful, wonderful gift, from a wonderful friend! I'm so happy for you, i know you treasure them for they warm the heart of any true miniaturist.
