How To Disable New Double Word Verification In Blogger

I don't know about you but I am having the worst time correctly typing in those two very distorted words to leave someone a comment. I HATE IT, it's driving me crazy! Especially when there is a black and white background behind the letters. Sometimes it takes me two or three times to get it right. Sometimes I give up.

What is the point of having to type in two long words suddenly? Try as I might I never found an explanation for this when I researched it. What I found was this post by a fellow blogger. THANK YOU Michelle!!! I forgot I had choices! www.michelemademe.com/2012/02/how-to-disable-new-two-word.html

  3. I think it worked... If you didn't have to type in two words, jump though 6 fire hoops and turn around three times to leave me a comment. ;-)

Someone please tell me it worked. LOL

  6. I hate it too!!! And as a blog owner you can still moderate your comments without people having to use the word verification. Unfortunately I have received spam comments before.

  8. OK... I might get a bit of SPAM. I will check often an delete it. If you see it here, don't click on it if they are able to leave a link.

I think this risk is better than loosing all of your contributions to my posts. I started noticing this week that there are fewer comments being left in the blogs I like to visit and leave comments in.

  9. Si vous ne voulez pas ces 2 mots ( certes pénibles ) il faut laisser les commentaires libres sans avoir à les approuver et comme cela vous êtes tranquille .

  10. OK chez vous c'est impeccable , pas de mots de robots !!!

  11. Catherine, I will have to see how it goes with the bots.

There is one thing that I am pretty sure of... If you want to take the fun right out of anything, make it super-duper extra SAFE. LOL

  13. Yppy !! I erased them too !!! they were so nasty ! real strain on eyes and took much of the pleasure of commenting.
I went back to older blogger too, with the ew one I couldn't open many pages at the same time and it was a great waste of time.
Thank you very much for reminding me that I can chose ! Rosanna

  19. Thank you! I am going to do this on my blog too.
I agree, my old eyes have an awful time trying to get the letters right. I had a period where I tried having no verification of comments on my blog and had to delete some comments that were posted by a political group :( so I changed it back.

  20. I hope all the bloggers remove them from their blogs. It's been driving me crazy. Plus, after I signed out of one blog and went to comment on another blog, because I was signed out, I had to go through word verification twice. Why don't they just leave well enough alone. Hope this is the correct expression. Plus, I hate their photo format. It was so much better before because we could enlarge everything full screen just by a click of the mouse. Now to do that, we have to go Ctrl and the plus sign and it gets annoying after a while.

    1. Oh yes the new photo format is maddening, why can't they just leave everything alone? It was working fine... Anyhow thank you for telling me how to eliminate the double verify, plus I discovered in my settings that not everyone can comment. Google checks the "sign in" by default so I changed it to "anyone" because people were telling me they could not comment in my blog... now I know why.........

  21. Lucille, I also do not like the black background slide show when you click on a picture. Why don't they leave things alone.

Try this... Right click on a photo, Choose Open Link In A New Window, Then left click on the photo for a big huge close up.

  22. Thanks Catherine. I did what you said and after I got the image in its bigger size, I wanted it bigger. So, I then did the Ctrl and the plus sign and this gave me a full screen. I was able to examine your little houses to my heart's content which is what we should be able to do when we're looking at miniatures.

But my complaint is that before all these changes, all we did was click on an image, it would enlarge, then we would click again and it would go full screen. It was a simple two step thing. Time is of the essence here, don't you think, when we have multiple blogs to read and comment on. Not to mention examining all the wee details. Surely, all bloggers must remember this. It was fantastic! We could examine close up all the minutest, tiniest little details! Why did they not just leave that alone? Them and their slide show!

  23. Thank you for explaining..I changed it too. I really hate having to decipher those 2 words!

  24. I just found you can disable the slide show too! You have to go to settings and then I think "formatting" (I have a dutch version so its called different). And then change "showing with lightbox" into "no"

  25. Thank you Catherine and Michelle!!

  26. Hello Catherine!
I join in with a big "Thank You"!
Just got rid of those hideous words that my extra strong reading glasses couldn't decipher.
Also thank you for the kind words you leave for me. I appreciate hearing from you. If you would ever consider allowing me your e-mail address I would love to know it and keep it private. I think you live in a town where one of my all time favorite houses of the 1920's exists.
Your posts, work, and photos are simply wonderful and a joy to get to see!
    Warm regards from Ray

  27. Hello Catherine,
Thank you for posting this. As I told others, Double word Verification was the bane of our miniature existance.
Thank you again, and also for all your feedback and kindness ...I really appreicate it.
    Have a great week,
    Hugs,
    Giac

  28. Hi Catherine! I did not see this post yet! Funny how we all at the same time do the same thing. A clear case of collectively tapping into Universal Knowledge, me thinks ;-)
I do hope a lot of the bloggers will change the captcha!

  29. PS, I did find one of the reasons for the choice of strange words when I clicked on the question mark next to the word verification. It said something like they used words from old documents which, by letting us type them, were then digitalized, thus helping to find out more about these old texts. Something like that anyway. A worthwhile cause, but to the annoyance of so many, each time you want to comment??? I think not.

  30. Josje, I think Google made a lot of changes on February 01/12. None of them good in my opinion. Now when I do a Google search for a product, other web sites I go to show me advertisements for similar products automatically. Along with all the other annoying things... They are very intursive now tracking your every move.

  31. After you told me you had trouble to leave messages on my blog, I have changed the setting. My attention was block spam messages; I don't know why but there are a lot of spam messages coming to my blog recently. :)

    Thanks for sharing with us!!
