ReplyDeleteMy jaw just dropped open when I read it. No wonder the Queen invited her to a garden party. Who wouldn't want to meet such a woman.
ReplyDeleteI am in awe of her.
Thank you so much, Catherine, for sharing this amazing story. Now, I know that my spring cleaning will get done and my dollhouse will get built, plus a few other things that have been on my "I don't know if I could do that" agenda. I feel so motivated because of this woman. I am in awe of her. Who would not be?!! This woman is a pearl! I will think of her every time I imagine that I can't do something because it's too hard or it's never been done or I'm too old. Again, Catherine, thanks a million for sharing this! You've made my day and I feel like I have wings!
ReplyDeleteAn amazing story, i guess it just goes to show with a little determination what we are all capable of.
ReplyDeleteI saw May Savidge (the old lady) interviewed on a YouTube video. In that video was her niece inside the finished cottage too. It was WONDERFUL! I wish I could have uploaded it to this post but Google is giving me lots of trouble.
ReplyDeleteGreat story Catherine! Thank you so much for sharing this! I really enjoyed it so much!
ReplyDeleteHello Catherine,
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely post. I'll think of that little lady when I'm complaining about bricking and tiling the Roof of Dewell Manor...nice to keep things in perspective.
Have a wonderful weekend,
Big hugs,
Giac
Thank you for sharing this story. What a gutsy lady and what an amazing feat. It was only at the end of the piece that I realised how truly sad her personal life had been. It is fantastic that she can be remembered now through her legacy. Happy Easter. Carol :)
