It may not look like much progress but I would rather stitch half of that
rug all over again, then that evil, boring, wider border. It took forever. The
last of it was done during a rather debilitating health issue. Which didn't help
the annoyance factor. Sorry, I am still feeling grumpy.
I know you are never supposed to say never but I think this will be my last
rug. They are just too repetitive. I would love to stitch some pillows on 56
count though.....someday.
Back to work.
The carpet is magnificent. It is perfectly understandable to be grumpy at this stage but you feel better you will be able to stand back and admire your amazing work. The photo on the top looks fantastic - I had to double take as it looks like it is 1:1 scale. Carol :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Carol. I know once I finish it and can hold it like a piece of cloth it will have all been worth it.
DeleteNot much progress? Are you kidding? You've done an amazing amount of work. It looks absolutely fantastic, the most realistic miniature rug I've seen. Feel better soon , you deserve the rest =0/
ReplyDeleteAwwww thank you Pepper. These encouraging words feel so good while I am still so ill.

ReplyDeleteThank you Margaret. I wish I could bring it over to your house and show it to you. I am just trying to get a play date with Lily White. haha
DeleteFor an evil border it sure is beautiful! This is a huge amount of progress. I can stare for hours and still can't comprehend all those tiny stitches. mind....blown....
ReplyDeleteI listen to the radio LBC London while I am stitching. I look at different places on the rug and think I was there When Robing Williams died... I was there when Joan Rivers passed away. I was there when.... Odd way to mark progress huh.
DeleteThank you Linda
Your carpet is just plain Incredibly gorgeous!!! I Love it! I am sorry it wore you out... I hope you feel better soon!
ReplyDeleteI am sure they are much more relaxing when you plan to stitch them over several years.

ReplyDeleteThank you Stacey. I am glad to hear you like it. :-)
ReplyDeleteYour rug is absolutely stunning Catherine...I have to admit...there are many charts out there that I turn down because of the boredom level of many of them, so I fully understand about your borders :-)
ReplyDeleteI thought there was nothing you wouldn't tackle Elga. :-) Your work is beautiful.

elizabeth
Awww Thank you Elizabeth. What a sweet message!
DeleteI think I am most proud of the back. I was very careful not to get knots or wades of threads. I spent a lot of hours undoing those. They just seem to happen.
An yes, I am not well and it is making me very grumpy. You have made me smile though!
I am sorry to hear that you are unwell Catherine and I will pray that you will make a steady recovery. It is hard to be sick when there are so many things that you are wanting to do and that are waiting for your attention.
DeleteThank you Elizabeth. That is very kind of you.
DeleteHi Catherine... sorry to hear you've not been feeling to well ☺, you know sometimes the tiny things which seem to drain our levels of concentration are the ones which when finished give us the most pleasure...your rug is no exception it really is a most intricate and beautiful piece of work you should be very happy indeed!
ReplyDeleteWishing you a speedy recovery ☺ Tony.
Thank you Tony. I am really and looking forward to that very last stitch. I want to clear the decks so I can start something new. :-)
ReplyDeleteI bet you feel a real sense of accomplishment. It is wonderful!! Did you calculate the hours??
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteI do like seeing how much it has grown. It is back on the frame now so I can stitch the narrower border all around. It has consumed 6 months of my life. I couldn't begin to guess how many hours I have spent. LOTS of undoing which is called frogging. That takes a looooong time. It might not have been the best place to start learning petit point.
Yor rug is a masterpiece!
ReplyDeleteThe rug is amazing.....please get better soon, we are all thinking about you!
ReplyDeleteAll the best and take care
Vivian
it's beautiful, really beautiful..I know you are probably tired of it by now but it turned out so well. you do great work ;)

Looking forward to seeing you online again soon.
Your rug is a work of art.

Wow! It looks amazing, I can see how this could take forever to finish, but I hope you will be very proud of it once it is all finished, and you may even (at least almost) forgot about your grumpy days =)
