She has really grown.

I planted this Crepe Myrtle "Sarah's Favorite" three years ago. They have much bigger blooms then other Crepe Myrtle trees. It is just getting started blooming now.

I wanted some shade in front of the house. Something that would get as tall or taller then my roof. Now that the roots have pushed through the burlap bag it was planted in,  it has really taken off.

It is fun to keep photo records of these sort of things.

  2. Hi Catherine,
Great photos to show the Crepe M growth and your house. I am glad to see they are regaining popularity and so nice in white.
We cannot grow them around Vancouver but we had a pink/mauve one in the semi tropics of Queensland Australia.
    Thanks for posting your garden.

    1. Thank you! ;-)

There are so many lovely trees and flowers in Australia. I had no idea CM trees grew there. I also love the pink/mauve color. They are very common here. They bloom several times during the growing season too.

  3. Beautiful crepe myrtle! I haven't seen this one Downunder, would love to grow it, it's a lovely shape besides the gorgeous blossom. I have one of the dark pink ones.
    How are you keeping?

    1. Thank you Linda. The days are we have heat warnings. Like you need to be warned when the heat index is 113 degrees.

  7. It looks lovely Catherine, they are one of my favourites, we usually see them in pink here but white is beautiful.

  8. Thank you Margaret.

I thought since I had a brick house white should be my choice. Pink might not show up very well against it.

  10. It is lovely to see a tree like your CM in full flower at this time of year. So many of the trees ( as well as many flowering plants ) here in Vancouver, have slowed their blooming and are dropping leaves because of the intense heat wave we have been experiencing this summer. Both your tree and your lawn present a very refreshing oasis! :D

I am sorry to hear your trees and plants are suffering. I m sure it is a very unusual summer in Vancouver.

  15. Thank you. I do adore Crepe Myrtles.

Sadly a killer disease has affected every tree in town. I hope I can save mine. I have had it treated twice.

  16. I grew up with my California transplanted, southern born mother lamenting the lovely 'crepe myrtles' growing in the yard of her old Georgia home. Eventually I discovered they thrive in the area I live in now, so planted two in her honour ... and after losing so many trees to the drought it's wonderful to see they've grown to share the lovliest, palest lavender blooms! However, they remain smaller and less profuse than does your great white beauty. How are you my friend ... miss our little conversations. May be on my way back to Ireland and Scotland this spring! Happy, happy!

  17. Hi Monica. It is so great to see you here. I always keep an eye out for you in Pinterest. I enjoy our chats too.

I am so envious of you going to Ireland and Scotland. I would dearly LOVE to go. I am Irish, it is written across my face they tell me. haha
