Yesterday I had my right hand operated on. Yes, I am right handed. So there
won't be any miniature making around here for a few weeks.
Something that I thought was going to be relatively simple. A little bandage and a few days to get the sutures out. OOPS! I have two more weeks wearing this. My hand looks like Donald Trump's face or like someone powdered it with Cheeto's dust. The result of having it painted with betadine before they operated. I have tried baby wipes, alcohol and peroxide.. Nothing gets that stuff off.
Another thing I wasn't expecting was to come home with a giant block of Swiss Cheese to wear on my arm. It does help with holding the ice bag though.
I am going to try to stay out of hospitals in 2016!!!
I want to wish all of you a very Merry Christmas!
What can I possibly say.......!!! Who would have thought you would have ended up like that.....I am so sorry!!! No miniatures and an impossibility for eating Christmas dinner. Wish I was still in Paris....I could call you!! xxxxx
ReplyDeleteCan you believe it? I never would have thought I would be in a splint bandaged up to my elbow.
DeleteSpeaking of Christmas dinner... I have been invited out...The menu is BBQ baby back ribs...OMG!
Betadine won't come off nails, but if you scrub with a luffa (or those shower puffs) you can help speed up the exfoliation process and help it fade faster!
ReplyDeleteAs a side thought.....think of all the foam you will have for mini making projects! A lifetimes worth!
It might very well scrub off with soap and water BUT...I cannot get this dressing wet. You can't see it in the photo but it goes over and behind my thumb too. Half my hand is covered. All the way up to my knuckles on the other side. haha
DeleteHi Catherine,
ReplyDeleteYou are obviously on the mend as you are making jokes and complaining .... Sure signs!
I know it must be awkward! I'm sending you best wishes for a fast recovery and a Merry Christmas.
Regards Janine
Thank you Janine. Wishing you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy 2016
DeleteI am so sorry for you Catherine. I hope you will recover soon and you can go back to making miniatures. I hope it doesn't spoil your Chritsmas and you can still have a good Christmas.
ReplyDeleteThank you! Don't feel sorry. I am very glad I am in a position to be able to have my hand fixed.
DeleteMerry Christmas!
I think you've had a lifetime of injury and illness this year so here's hoping for an uneventful 2016. Wishing you a wonderful Christmas Catherine =0)X
ReplyDeleteI am hoping this is it for medical stuff for many years to come.
DeleteMerry Christmas Pepper! ;-)
Votre main est bien plus belle (et utile) que le visage de Donald Trump. Joyeux Noël et bonne convalescence.
ReplyDeleteJe vous remercie Jean-Claude. Joyeux Noël!
DeleteI'm so sorry Catherine, that's no fun at all and I hope you heal quickly! That Swiss Cheese, hilarious :D. But not very funny if you seriously have to wear it... I absolutely hope with you that 2016 will be a good year for you!! No illness and hospitals sounds great! Take care and I wish you wonderful holidays
ReplyDeleteNo it isn't fun but in the long run it is going to make a wonderful difference. My hand will work a lot better! :-)
DeleteMerry Christmas Monique!
Ok, 2015 is nearly gone and you had your fair share of hospitals... I hope you won't see any of them for the longest time now !
ReplyDeleteBest wishes for a speed recover and a very happy holiday season

DeleteHello Cathrine,
ReplyDeleteI hope, at the very least, that you are not in pain. Hang in there, you'll be good as new before you know it.
Merry Christmas and a great big hug,
Giac
Thank you Giac. I have some great pills that help a lot.
DeleteMerry Christmas to you and Jo.

ReplyDeleteHugs
Thank you! Happy Christmas! All the best to you too for a happy healthy new year.
DeleteOh no! Not more hospital visits! At least you are home again and on the mend. Your cheese thing made me laugh. I hope there aren't any rodents around mistaking you for an early Christmas lunch...;-) But of course not, what am I thinking, you've got Kilmouski there with you!
ReplyDeleteWishing you a wonderful Christmas Catherine. Get well soon.
Can you believe it! What a crazy year huh. Kilmouski is on the job. We are nose to nose ever since I got home.
DeleteMerry Christmas Josje.
BTW...I am loving all your new blog posts.
XXXOOO Get well soon! We need you!
ReplyDeleteAwww how sweet of you. Thank you for your well wishes. Merry Christmas!!!
Delete¡Ánimo! Dentro de poco será solo un mal recuerdo.
ReplyDelete¡Feliz Navidad!
Estoy realmente muy alegre y con ganas de las vacaciones. ¡Feliz Navidad!
DeleteOh no! What a time to have a bandaged arm! That cheese contraption looks a little scary actually! Is it itchy under that bandage? I think I'd go a little nuts with one! I hope it gets better really quickly and enjoy your Christmas.
ReplyDeleteHi Shannon,
ReplyDeleteYes it is getting itchy and a bit tight. I am learning to do things left handed. Like brush my teeth and type with one hand. Grrrr
I wish you a very Merry Christmas!
Oh my! Well try to think of it as a Christmas present because I think now you've met your quota!
ReplyDeleteSorry about the surgery, hope you have a great new year---
Quota...quota... I would have thought last March was enough of a quota for at least 10 years. haha
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year Linda! XXXXXXXXXXXXXX ;-)
I guess this is the time to catch up on reading! Wishing a speedy recovery!
ReplyDeleteThsnk you!
ReplyDeleteOh my! Hope it heals fast. I think the Swiss cheese contraption is a hoot! Definitely not a design decision to make it look like that... I bet Kilmouski is a bit puzzled.
ReplyDeleteHave a happy healing Christmas and an uneventful 2016 in terms of hospital visits!
Thank you Idske. The Swiss cheese thingy has been thoroughly inspected my kilmouski as has my arm. He is puzzled by it all. Still I know he knows there is something wrong because he's sticking to me like glue.
DeleteHave a very Merry Christmas!!!
I hope you are feeling better soon!
ReplyDeleteThank you! Happy Holiday and all my best for a wonderful 2016
DeleteMerry Christmas to you too!!! Get better very soon!
ReplyDeleteGeneviève
Hi Genevieve, Thank you. Merry Christmas!
DeleteMerry Christmas Catherine! I know that it must be very uncomfortable for you to do Anything with that bundle on your arm but I hope that your arm mends well, and that 2016 will be the BEST year yet! :D
ReplyDeleteelizabeth
Thank you Elizabeth. Sorry I missed answering you for so long. That thing is off now and all is well. Getting well that is.
DeleteI am wishing you a very happy 2016!
Hope you are now on the mend! Nothing is worse than being forced to be idle when your brain wants so much to create. Happy 2016 and fingers crossed you will stay out of hospitals.
ReplyDeleteI really hated having my hand in that thing, I am delighted to have it off now. There are so many things I want to do.
DeleteHappy New Year! XXX
Oh Catherine you have my sympathy. I had wrist surgery 10 days ago and the stitches out today. Will be some weeks before I get any mobility but thankfully (and unlike you) it is not my dominant hand. For creative people being handicapped like this (literally) is torture. I hope you are doing well now. Take it easy though. Carol x
ReplyDeleteThank you Carol.
ReplyDeleteI am sorry to hear you have also had surgery on your wrist.
Now, weeks later I still have swelling and a lump where the incision is. The stiffness is going away though.
I hope you heal quickly.
Catherine XXXXXXXXXXX
oh dear =C please get well soon! Try not to be too frustrated with the inability to use your favourite arm. Try not to rush the resting phase, it is important to heal it properly. wish you all the best
