Thank you Lidi!!!

Yesterday I was surprised and thrilled to receive my Etsy order from Lidi Stroud. I couldn't believe how quickly it came in the mail all the way from Australia!

Her work is astonishing! She is truly a master artisan. I can only guess at how many years and miles of thread it has taken to achieve her incredible level of skill. I love the natural color of the thread she used. The inside of the basket is as beautiful as the outside is.

Lidi overwhelmed me with a magnificent gift! I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw there was a second basket in the little box. OMG!!! It is this gorgeous hanging basket! :-) It has little beads on both sides where the handle is. How in the world she wove this tiny shape is beyond me. The top actually rolls over on it's self.

Both of these are very special treasures in my collection. I am so thrilled to have them.

Thank you so much Lidi!!! I LOVE them both. XXXXX
PS... Lidi has a wonderful article in AIM this month with her lovely basket weavers shop. It is a must see!

  8. You made a wise decision buying from Lidi, as you say her work is amazing. I was lucky enough to receive one of her little hampers for my birthday recently, and I saw some of her other pieces at the Sydney Miniatures Fair last year. I don't remember seeing the hanging basket tho, I like it very much, it has a real personality.

  12. Michelle,

It may not be a British tea box but it came from England...Does that count? Carol Cook made it. LOL

  15. Lidi's work is beautiful....so fine and so detailed! You have used them in a fabulous display....it is wonderful to see. I too would never glue items into such a beautiful basket....I'm not a big believer in glue too much at all, I think items look a lot more natural (real) if just sat in place....just my thoughts....lol!

  16. Catherine,

Hmmm nah! lol lol I was hopeful to find you a nice mini box of Twinning's tea, but for now a link for other British brands (I've got a few fab mini's from this shop and from a fair too).

  18. Linda,

I agree...how can you play with your petite maison if things are glued in place! Part of the fun for me is moving things around creating a new vignette out of the things that are in the house.

    Michelle,

Thank you for the link. I will keep an eye out for British 1: 12 scale teas. LOL

Hrmmm... Now that I think about it...I don't think they grow tea in the UK. Even English antique sterling silver borrowed many of the shapes used from the Chinese. ;-)

  20. OK Cockerina... How would you like some of the green apples I make in a little basket made by me out of paper. Not to worry it will be very strong.

Lidi... Your basket weavers shop in AIM (online magazine) is WONDERFUL!!!!!! I just loved, loved, loved it! I have not had the chance yet to play with Creative Paper Clay. You have used it so realistically to create your shop. Luck you to be going to another Rik class. I would love to go to one.

  23. LOL Catherine, I knew you'd say that as soon as I posted my comment! I was poking fun at the amount of tea we Brits drink. lol That will teach me, and to be more explicit next time with the written word! :o))

I haven't forgotten the photo's either....just not enough hours in the day. :o((
