I have been busy making French flower buckets/pails for the past few days. I have photographed them against a photo I found on the internet of a real Paris flower shop. It is sort of scary to see mine against the real thing.
I used a miniature pot of daffodils, you have seen here before so you could better understand the scale. If these buckets were 1: 1 scale they would be 13 inch's tall. So I am calling this first group size 13. They were made in the same way the watering cans were.
My weather plays a big part in how the faux galvanized finish comes out on these pieces. It has been very humid here since May, so there isn't much choice in when I can put the finish on them. Better fall weather coming, so I am going to take this finish off and re-do it again soon. But for now... Here they are.
Catherine ...what I see looks great, I really wonder if they will look even greater after redoing :-)
ReplyDeleteHow´s working with the "new" eyes?
Hugs, Sandra
They will just not look so spotty when I re-do them. Which is what I do not like now.
ReplyDeleteMy eye is perfect, 20/20! Thank you for asking. In a year or so I may have the other eye done. For now... I have good close up vision with the eye that has not been operated on so I am going to wait.
Catherine, They came out really wonderful and look like the real thing! I love them. So happy to hear that the operation was a success!! Must feel good. I remember when my Mom had that surgery.......she was amazed how blue the flames on our gas stove were........LOL
ReplyDeleteSo nice! I think that the spots add realism, the real things aren't shiny or clean, rather on the dark side I dare say. I truly love yours.Have fun, Rosanna
ReplyDeleteThose are great! I love them. Can't wait to see what you do with them.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed it! The galvanized finish is amazing!
ReplyDeleteHugs
They are great. They look so real. I love them. Hugs Maria
ReplyDeleteOh my god, they are so beautiful! I wish I was able to make them for my flower shop!!! They're just was I had in mind! Sigh, I'd better learn some metalsmith techniques :)
ReplyDeleteHugs
So pretty! Can't imagine what you will do with them next, Catherine! Flora is right, seeing all the beautifull things you make I wish I could do the same!:)
ReplyDeleteThey look fabulous. The colours are so effective, I can't believe you are going to mess with them, they look perfect in the photograph.
ReplyDeleteI am always amazed at what you do. They are fantastic!!! =)
ReplyDeleteA few good bunches of flowers, a couple of price labels, and they would just blend in with the other ones. So good! Just as the others said, I rather like the weathered effect on them! But I'm sure that you as a metal smith know how to make them look even better.
ReplyDeleteI visited Paris in February, years ago. I remember the feeling of light-headedness that gave me flowers, displayed on the sidewalks, where the colors seemed forever crystallized in the cold.
ReplyDeleteSweet memories ...
Yours pails are perfect :-)
Mini hugs, Flora
Son hermosos!
ReplyDeleteUn abrazo
They're a delight and I like this finish too, they look like they've held many many bunches of beautiful flowers before which adds to their charm I think.
ReplyDeleteOh Catherine.....!!!!
ReplyDeleteThese pails certainly have that 'essence of Paris' about them.....I love how at first glance they all look the same, but on closer inspection they all have their own individuality........PERFECT!!!!
Exactly my thought Josje... Buckets packed with one type of flower. And in each bucket... A long pick with a black (small) sign telling you in white writing how many Euros they are. ;-)
ReplyDeleteLove love love! Such talent...
ReplyDeleteThey look perfect as they are Catherine, I wouldn't change a thing about them - you are being far too critical of your excellent work!
ReplyDeleteThey are perfect! Exactly like the real ones. I wouldn't re-do anything---
