This poor kitty has had more facial reconstruction than Joan Rivers!
I finished it and the next day I decided I hated the angle of the fur so I ripped it all off (below the eyes). Then I reapplied the fur at an angle I liked better. A day later... I decided to dye areas around the face to give it some stripes. At first this cat had sort of a dark brown widows peak. I woke up the next day and decided I hated that look, so I changed it to a longer strip of white to the forehead. PHEW!... That is a lot of surgery on one cats face! I forgot to say...After the final cure bake, I didn't like the angle of the head so I cut it off and changed the sculpt of the shoulders to accommodate the new head position.

Hey! Get off that nightgown! Leave it to a cat, they are connoisseurs of comfort.
I have read you cannot add or change anything to a furred miniature animal once it is finished. Maybe those people don't have a 10X jewelers eye piece. With that I can see more then anyone ever wanted to know about something they made.

This cat was furred with Alpaca fiber over my polymer clay sculpt. She has blue 2mm agate bead eyes. I started with a wire amateur so the tail can be repositioned. Not often because eventually the wire would work harden and break. She also has sculpted pink paw pads like the other cat I made.
Oh Catherine, she is BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!! You attention to detail is truly amazing!!!! I love her!!!!!!!!

She is just beautiful. She should have the comfort of such a lovely bed and nightgown.
ReplyDeleteCatherine, you truly have fairy hands!
ReplyDeleteWow...what a beautiful cat you`ve made.
ReplyDeleteGreetings Xandra
I'm always amazed by your work! And this cat is stunning like always =) I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one changing my mind from day to day ;)

catherine, this one takes my breathe away! i don't know you well, only as far as one can 'know' somebody from just recently starting to follow their work online, but i love that you reveal the "trial and error" with your pieces.i love your humbleness,in light of such a gift!plus,it shows others that they can be successful with that piece that 'just doesn't look right',that gets thrown into the wastebasket, then sheepishly fished out 5 minutes later and given a second chance. ;) thanx for sharing!kat
ReplyDeletePoor, poor kitty. Your post has made me smile "so I cut it off" !! All worth it though he is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteHi Catherine,
ReplyDeleteshe is just beautiful, I love the markings! I think these multiple changes are a the mark of a perfectionist. There are always things that people say that can't be done but there is nothing like a successful challenge.
Your work is amazing.

Catherine, she's gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous! She deserves to lie on a beautiful nightgown after everything she's been through. As the old saying goes, we have to suffer to be beautiful! You are one persistent lady!
ReplyDeleteShe's absolutely gorgeous! I can't believe my eyes, she's going to get right up and walk off! I'm so glad you were able to do your revisions to your satisfaction :)
ReplyDeleteHello Catherine! She's " Purrrrrrr- Fect!!!!"
ReplyDeleteelizabeth
C est une bien jolie " mademoiselle " .
ReplyDeleteJ aime particulièrement la position des pattes arrières . C est une très jolie posture .
Le pelage est magnifique .
Bravo catherine .
She is gorgeous Catherine, ha, I have unglued many small pieces of wood when something is not quite right until I was happy, so I understand perfectly :-)
ReplyDeleteShe's definitely at home on that bed. And she deserves to relax after all that surgery!
ReplyDeletePS – please don’t ever bring your 10X jeweller’s eye piece near my minis! I live by the rule that what the naked eye can’t perceive simply doesn’t exist - and I fear that you’d find out too many secrets ;)
Joan Rivers will be so jealous! Your venture into surgery is a successful one, the cat is gorgeous! I love the detailing.
ReplyDeleteShe'd have to lay in front of a mirror because I love her back too, those little brown ears sticking out from the thick fur and those few white hairs just overlapping her dark tail...just wonderful!
Pauvre chat de la chirurgie esthétique !!! mais comme on dit en France cela valait la peine .Il a une posture très belle et le pelage rend très bien comme cela .
ReplyDeletethat was funny, with all that facial work it still looks like a cat..where as Joan looks like a fish.
ReplyDeleteSuch a wonderful cat!
ReplyDeleteGeneviève
I love cats and yours is adorable.
ReplyDeleteBye, Faby
LOL!
ReplyDeleteDespite having been operated on so many times, is having a quite well :-)
I love cats and I love that they always find the most comfortable place (and luxurious) to sleep :-)
For me it is really quite unbelievable that it is not alive, you're really taleted with hair and fur ;-)
Lovely hugs,
Flora
Pues al final te ha quedado muy bien, pobre gato, no parece que haya sufrido tanto.Ha valido la pena tanto esfuerzo.
ReplyDeleteUn beso

DeleteGorgeous, I used to breed Ragdolls :)
ReplyDeleteShe's a BEAUTY. Perhaps you should work on human faces too, when they come out so pretty.
ReplyDeleteWonderful work.
Andrea (and Luzi, who is purring in my ears - perhaps she wants something done to her face too.... - no it's the empty plate in the kitchen)
Oh my, is there anything you can't do? Amazing work! You have such an eye for detail and absolutely exquisite technique!
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing such a beautiful post!
Wishing you all the very best!
Brad
Somehow I missed this post Catherine, your kitty is even more beautiful than the last, but you had better not tell her she has had a head transplant, it might give her a complex.
ReplyDeleteI don't think I have commented before, though Ive gone through your blog many times, had to comment on this post because it made me laugh. Your cat doesn't look like its gone through all that trauma at all. I do think he/she looks slighty wary though :D But maybe I am seeing that because I know what you did to it.
ReplyDeleteNever talk about this episode in public, as out of context you could get arrested :D "I ripped its fur off and cut its head off because I didnt like the angles"
Brilliant, but it was worth it, he/she is lovely!
Thank you Sarah. I am so glad you came in and left a comment. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteThis cat sold on ebay a couple of days ago. It's head is in no danger of coming off. It has two pins through it to the body and I "glued" it on with liquid polymer clay. lol
