Handmade Ceramic/Porcelain Tiles.

This is not the final arrangement. I just keep playing with them like they were puzzle pieces. Sometimes mixing in the white and blue matching solid ones. The square ones are 1/2 inch.  I love the Greek key tiles and the tiny square corner ones.

As usual I couldn't make up my mind. Terry Curran's work is so beautiful. Choosing one design meant leaving all the others behind. So I have what looks like a patch work quilt of tiles here.

No, I am not sure exactly how I will use them in the kitchen. The idea was to use them around the sink as a splash guard or behind a stove. I will have enough to do either one. I have tested that on the drawings I have of the walls.

It is a perfect color match to the Stokesay Ware I have. Which is also a mismatched collection because I loved all the blue and white designs they have too.

  1. Hello Catherine,
I love the mismatched tiles. They are so gorgeous and well done I think the room will be even more beautiful then if you had stuck to 1 design. I cannot wait to see it.
    big hug,

  2. Love your tiles...some of them I recognize, I bought some many years ago at a show here, I didn't realize they were made by Terry Curran.

  9. Absolutely gorgeous just the way they are, but I think whatever arrangement you decide on will work, just because the tiles themselves are superb. Can't wait to see them on.
    All the best

  10. They are gorgeous, Catherine! The random pattern makes me think of my Castle Hall floor... my tiles are only sculpey... but I rearranged the patterns FOREVER! LOL!
I think you should use them over your sink... if I recall your cast iron cookstove has a tall back and would hide too many of them? I can't wait to see what you decide, it will be gorgeous, I am sure!

    1. You're right, I do have a high back stove I cast in bronze. The Chrysnbon one. I was considering buying a different sort of stove for this cottage.

We had a RLcast iron cook stove in our cottage we used every summer. So... I think i will use the 'cast iron' one despite the fact the rest of the kitchen will have some updates.

My mother never would have allowed out RL cook stove to be replaced.

  12. They are gorgeous, Terry makes the most beautiful tiles! I'm very envious! I think the mix is nice, having everything the same is boring! Where ever you decide to put them they need to be on show as they are too lovely to hide behind things!

  19. The tiles are gorgeous Catherine. I really like the mixed patterns and the 'random' arrangement you made. I know making something look like it is random is not as easy as it sounds!
I am looking forward to the day we get to see something of your house!
