It never goes the way you think it will.

Yesterday I had my right hand operated on. Yes, I am right handed. So there won't be any miniature making around here for a few weeks.

Something that I thought was going to be relatively simple. A little bandage and a few days to get the sutures out. OOPS! I have two more weeks wearing this. My hand looks like Donald Trump's face or like someone powdered it with Cheeto's dust. The result of having it painted with betadine before they operated. I have tried baby wipes, alcohol and peroxide.. Nothing gets that stuff off.

Another thing I wasn't expecting was to come home with a giant block of Swiss Cheese to wear on my arm. It does help with holding the ice bag though.
I am going to try to stay out of hospitals in 2016!!!

I want to wish all of you a very Merry Christmas!

    1. Can you believe it? I never would have thought I would be in a splint bandaged up to my elbow.

Speaking of Christmas dinner... I have been invited out...The menu is BBQ baby back ribs...OMG!

  2. Betadine won't come off nails, but if you scrub with a luffa (or those shower puffs) you can help speed up the exfoliation process and help it fade faster!

As a side thought.....think of all the foam you will have for mini making projects! A lifetimes worth!

    1. It might very well scrub off with soap and water BUT...I cannot get this dressing wet. You can't see it in the photo but it goes over and behind my thumb too. Half my hand is covered. All the way up to my knuckles on the other side. haha

  13. Oh no! Not more hospital visits! At least you are home again and on the mend. Your cheese thing made me laugh. I hope there aren't any rodents around mistaking you for an early Christmas lunch...;-) But of course not, what am I thinking, you've got Kilmouski there with you!
Wishing you a wonderful Christmas Catherine. Get well soon.

  16. Oh no! What a time to have a bandaged arm! That cheese contraption looks a little scary actually! Is it itchy under that bandage? I think I'd go a little nuts with one! I hope it gets better really quickly and enjoy your Christmas.

  17. Hi Shannon,
Yes it is getting itchy and a bit tight. I am learning to do things left handed. Like brush my teeth and type with one hand. Grrrr

I wish you a very Merry Christmas!

Sorry about the surgery, hope you have a great new year---

  21. Oh my! Hope it heals fast. I think the Swiss cheese contraption is a hoot! Definitely not a design decision to make it look like that... I bet Kilmouski is a bit puzzled.

Have a happy healing Christmas and an uneventful 2016 in terms of hospital visits!

    1. Thank you Idske. The Swiss cheese thingy has been thoroughly inspected my kilmouski as has my arm. He is puzzled by it all. Still I know he knows there is something wrong because he's sticking to me like glue.

      Have a very Merry Christmas!!!

  26. Oh Catherine you have my sympathy. I had wrist surgery 10 days ago and the stitches out today. Will be some weeks before I get any mobility but thankfully (and unlike you) it is not my dominant hand. For creative people being handicapped like this (literally) is torture. I hope you are doing well now. Take it easy though. Carol x

  27. Thank you Carol.

I am sorry to hear you have also had surgery on your wrist.

Now, weeks later I still have swelling and a lump where the incision is. The stiffness is going away though.

    I hope you heal quickly.
