I have been making knives this morning. I found the wood for the handles in my shop but I am not sure what it is. It is much easier to glue the wood to the metal before you cut them out. OOPS!I see have have a bit more polishing to do on the steel. Back to the Flexshaft.
Norma, I am not making miniatures to sell right now. For all the years I have been making miniatures I have almost nothing myself. So this year I am going to make a real effort to start building a dollhouse and furnish it. Thanks for asking though. :-)
Yes! Visionary Butterfly the handles are wood. I really wanted to put real rivets in the wood but then I thought...No, I better get one with other things today.
Glenda... A metalsmith would never have knives that looked battered and worn. ;-)
Catherine, I do appreciate what you are saying, I can't imagine making always for others. I'm sure we all support your wish to concentrate on your own project and are all looking forward to seeing it progress! Linda and I are very very patient - hopefully it will be a case of good things come to those who wait, and wait ... ;)
Sorry, I didn't see your reply to Norma before I posted my comment. It is hard when you see such delightful miniatures and they are out of reach. But I so understand, I'm sure there are so many wonderful miniaturist who make and sell, then at the end of the day have nothing left for themselves. It is not now, but later on when you look back and wished you had kept some for yourself. I do enjoy seeing your lovely work though!! Kindest Regards, Linda x
Linda, I knew you had not yet read my response to Norma when I read your post. :-) Maybe now you will understand why the photos of my work are not in beautiful settings like so many others have on their blogs. I don't even own a chair. I have two tables and a bed, that's it. I have a long way to go.
Speaking to things we all want for our houses... I would love to buy one of Josje's gorgeous chairs. I just love them!!!
These are gorgeous knives! They look like the pieces of one of my favorite miniaturists, Sir Thom Thumb! I have several of his pieces. Oh, I wish you were selling! They are perfect.
Hi Neomi, Welcome! I was so sorry to hear that you had broken your leg. How in the world did you do that? No, I am not selling anything. I am trying to make a few things for myself this year. I hope you are able to make some miniatures while you are recovering. X
Welcome to my blog!
I am artist and a metalsmith. I have always loved miniatures and dollhouses. My interest in making miniatures is not restricted to the metal work I do. This year I plan to design and build a dollhouse.
I do not sell the miniatures I am making right now while I am trying to build my own collection.
