I want to thank those of you who crossed your fingers & toes, sent good vibes, prayers and wished me well. To those people that left me such kind well wishes for my surgery...Thank you so much!!!! It meant a lot to me, more than you can imagine. More than I thought it would.
I wish I could send each of you a gift but I am going to draw one name from those 31 people who took their time to leave me a comment. To the winner I am going to send the last miniature watering can I made. If the winner should not want it for some reason, I will draw a second name. I will announce the winner on August 22.
My doctor said today I would only have 80% of the sort of vision I will have a month from today. It will continue to improve as the swelling goes away and the healing is complete. Today in the eye I had surgery in.... I have 20/20 vision! HOW COOL IS THAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

20/20 vision....wow!...that is VERY cool!!!!
ReplyDeleteI am also excited about the give-away, what a fabulous gesture on your behalf.
Linda x
Glad it went well and 20/20 - not bad at all :)
ReplyDeleteJust imagine... I was legally blind in my right eye. I wouldn't have known who my best friend was sitting across a table from me with my left eye closed. At a distance... All I could see in my right eye were blurry shapes of color. It is a great reason to celebrate.
ReplyDeleteI have the best reason there is to be thankful!
Glad to hear you are fine! Now take care of yourself...:-)
ReplyDeleteHi Catherine,I'm so glad to hear from you and than this good news:-)))! Take good care of you. Hugs,Jeannette x
ReplyDeleteVery cool, indeed, Catherine. So glad to hear things went well. :-)
ReplyDeleteme alegro de que todo haya ido bien!
ReplyDeleteThat is wonderful news! Now that you have great vision, will we see tiny houses made from acorns??? :)
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad your surgery was an outstanding success. Your miniatures were perfect without perfect vision, it's hard to beat perfection but I look forward to seeing your work with your new eye sight!
ReplyDeleteHow good to hear you are doing so well! I can understand such a surgery was scary because we only got 2 eyes and need them so! What a generous giveaway to celebrate! That's so kind of you.
ReplyDeleteTake good care of yourself now
Awesome news! So good to hear!
ReplyDeleteWhat good news! Thank God the surgery was a success!
ReplyDeleteHugs
How wonderful! Now for eye #2, I am sure it will go just as nicely.
ReplyDeleteIt is so amazing to go from the state of being legally blind to having great vision. Modern miracles indeed!
I am so very happy for you, Catherine! You must be so relieved that it's over. Please do not include me in the draw because I never participate in draws. The reason being that because I do not have a blog, I have no eye candy to share with all you good people. Therefore, out of fairness to all those ladies who work so hard on their blog, I never participate in draws. But thank you for thinking of me.
ReplyDeleteLucille... This wasn't about blogs or miniatures. This was a personal matter I chose to share with the people that read my blog. Several of which have become friends.
ReplyDeleteIf you do not collect miniatures or if you would not like to have the watering can then OK.
Other wise... You are as much a part of this as any of the other 30 people. You always take your time to leave me a comment and I appreciate that. You are a valued Follower of my blog!!! I don't care if you have one of not. Many of the people that are Followers here do not have a blog either.
So... I hope you will change your mind. ;-)

Carol... I would love to make more walnut accorn houses! I just have to find somewhere to get those big domed accorn caps. I just have one small one left.
ReplyDeleteThose kind of oak trees don't grow where I live. I got the ones I had in North Carolina 13 years ago. I guess if you save something long enough you will find a use for it. lol
It’s indeed good news! I believe you are relieved and will feel better and better. Congratulations!
ReplyDeletePeiwen
What a relief that the operation is now a past thing and you feel OK. Best wishes.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad all went well with your operation, as miniaturists our eyes are our greatest asset as well as our hands, had to remind myself to more careful as I cut a deep gash into my right forefinger on Sunday, fortunately it is healing well. Hope the swelling and healing goes quick on your eye!!!!!!!! And I won't say no to the watering can, I love it!!!!
Mely
GREAT !
ReplyDeleteI feel better now that I know that surgery is behind you.
Take care !

Oh Catherine ... I do not know why, I am moved, I have a sort of lump in my throat ... Maybe because I understand that behind your gesture, there is a feeling precious, I know, and I fully agree with ...
ReplyDeleteThrough the blog I have met many wonderful people with whom I feel natural to share a lot of emotions that would otherwise remain unexpressed.
So, nothing better than to intensely thinking of a friend who is having a difficult time, halfway around the world, and also needs my comfort :-)
Now that you have new eyes, you can do a lot of good things to share with us all :-)
Now fingers crossed for me (I love your watering can!)
:-)
Mini lovely hugs
Flora

That's wonderful news Catherine! So pleased to hear that things are improving for you. Judith x
ReplyDeleteWonderful, wonderful news, Catherine, I am soooo happy for you!!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you for this beautiful Give-away (-:
Hugs,
Karin
Dear Catherine, thank you so much for your kind words. Very well, then, count me in. The little can is adorable as is everything you do. Yes, I do collect miniatures and I am building a doll house. I have had it for over fifteen years. It is not the house of my dreams but I am trying to make the most of it. I purchased it when I knew nothing of the dollhouse market and I did not even own a computer. It is a very slow process with me. Perhaps one day I will finish it. I hope so!
ReplyDeleteCatherine I'm very glad for you. I know how important it is to have a good vision. I work with people who are blind and then you realise every day that you can do so mutch more with good eyes.
ReplyDeleteLucille, I am so happy to hear you changed your mind. :-)
ReplyDeleteI would be willing to bet that no one else in Blogland would mind one single bit if you entered their 'Give Away' either. There are so many people that love miniatures, collect them but don't want to fool around with a blog and that's just fine. It isn't some exclusive club with membership requirements. ;-)
Catherine, I am so pleased for you that everything went so well! I am also blown away at your skills. If you were legally blind in one eye and still made some of the finest miniatures, I can only imagine what will come from you in the future!! Thanks for the giveaway. I had a little chuckle at your comment about a second draw if someone decided they didn't want the watering can......it will never happen!! Who would consider that? LOL
ReplyDeleteBig Hug to you!!!!
Patty... Thank you!!!
ReplyDeleteI just felt that it would be a little presumptuous to assume all these people would want the watering can. Since I just recruited them for my celebration 'Give Away'. ;-)
Elga, Sorry to hear about you cutting into your finger. OUCH!!! I am glad to hear it is mending. I know how that hurts.
ReplyDeleteI drilled into mine once while doing something in miniature. I have also sawed into it will a jewelers blade.
Wonderful news!! Thank God!! Many blessings for continued healing! ove the watering can!!
ReplyDeleteYou do awesome work!! Please count me in!!
Catherine is only now that I have seen this publication. Glad it went well and I am sure that everything is going well.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the opportunity to receive a work of you, so beautiful.
kisses
Inês
Catherine, it is Wonderful to hear your operation was successful!! I have missed the give-away but am just grateful that you have your perfect vision back in that eye! You make such amazingly perfectly detailed tiny things.... it is a wonder HOW you did it with one blind eye!! Please rest and don't rush the eye.... you have such skill..... we are ALL the beneficiaries of your creativity! (You were in my thoughts even though I was not commenting.... just so you know the wider web was keeping their fingers crossed too !:)
ReplyDeleteDaydreamer...It's Betsy right?
ReplyDeleteThank you for your lovely and very thoughtful comment. It is greatly appreciated.
Thank you also for your kind words about the miniature pieces I make. I think I have been fooling myself for a very long time about the work I do.
As soon as my sight is fully restored, I plan to go to work with the sort of enthusiasm that clear sight will inspire! I have a feeling my (other) work and the sort I have been doing in miniature will change. Catherine XXXXXXXX
As we say here... Olé, olé y olé!!! :-) Fantastic news :-) I'm so glad, this is the best news of the week! Congratulations and a big hug from the hot, hot, hot Sevilla :-)
ReplyDeleteI just read the news about your surgery (was away on holiday!) and I'm so glad it went well!!! Hope your sight will restore quickly, so you can make your wonderful miniatures again soon!!!
