Kilmouski in 1: 12 Scale Test # 1

Kilmouski thought he should pose for my next miniature cat. He assured me that his likeness would be a good seller on eBay.

So armed with my new dyes I made an effort to color the light gray Alpaca fibers to resemble his coat. I am pretty sure this new experiment didn't make him very happy. He says he has more black through his fur. The problem is, it is necessary to add a bit of water to the dye so it doesn't dry crusty. To get a real fade to black for the tips of the hair on his coat, I am going to need a lot of practice.

Siberians have three coats. The third coat are guard hairs. They are sort of feel oily. The Guard hairs keep that breed from getting wet. It is very hard to give them a bath because of it too.

  1. What a cute pose Catherine, he is adorable. I am sure Kilmouski should feel proud. The fur looks lovely pale, on this one.
That is something I didn't know about Siberians, you could use a soil wetting-agent in the water for his bath, lol.

  3. Two words: Presh Us! I think you did an incredible job on Kilmouski's coat. I don't know why, but my kitty likes to jump up on the buffet, too.

  7. Kilmouski in 1/12 is gorgeous, Catherine! I wondered when he was going to talk you into making him in miniature :-)

I think both my cats will scratch me to pieces if I tried to bath them, fortunately they seem to do a pretty good job on keeping themselves clean.

  9. Such a handsome kitty! RL Kilmouski must be a beautiful cat. (One of my cats is a mix of several breeds, so trying to make a realistically furred miniature would involve brain-scrambling detail. I took the slacker's route of painting two mass-produced resin cats to look like my RL little darlings.)

  15. Hmm? Tree coats?! No wonder :) Being Siberian! Still... he looks pretty adorable, fluffy ánd cúúúte :)

On a serious note, that makes for quite some challenge, representing this type of coat?! I'm not too familiar with the breed so won't even have noticed. But you do, knowing him from whiskers to tail. Good luck on taking this hairy hurdle! Knowing you his likeness will come out even more amazing then it does already

  16. His coat is so strange on his back and his tail.
When you part his fur to the skin, it is a whitish gray. Then as you go up the hairs they turn a darker gray and finally end in black at the tips.

Thank for all of your encouragement and kind comments Everyone!
