Around the garden today.

Finally spring has arrived. The beginning of April felt more like January or February. All it has taken is a few warm days and suddenly everything is starting to bloom. The clematis and azaleas look happy. The huge pink dogwood in my side garden is just getting started.

I love having fresh peppermint. I cut the bottom out of the flower pot and buried it half way down so the mint doesn't spread. I think it is the best medicine for indigestion too. ;-)

Sadly no miniatures are being made. Life has changed and I have been very busy!

  1. Your white azalea is beautiful Catherine - I love mint - mint sauce with lamb is a match made in heaven.
It seems that the spring weather has been playing tricks on us all this year.

    1. Thank you Rosemary. I planted a long row of those white azaleas in my kitchen court yard three years ago. They have really gotten big in a very short time.

  2. Gorgeous! I love how everything blooms all at once after it finally warms up. As if the flowers are impatient too.

    1. Thank you Sheila. You are right as soon as the weather warms up everything seems to burst forth in gratitude for the end of winter. This city looks like a fairy land right now.

    1. Hi Betsy... Thank you! If your crocus are up the rest can't be far behind. I think everyone is looking forward to spring after this awful very cold winter. ;-)

  4. These are such Beautiful photographs of what Spring should be looking like in April, but for some of us it isn't as yet.
Even so, the colors of the plants in your garden are GLORIOUS and I am surprised at how early your purple clematis has bloomed. Your tip regarding the mint is good, since most varieties have a reputation in many gardens as
    "a problem child" ;D

p.s. pineapple mint is my personal favorite

  5. Thank you Elizabeth. The purple clematis is in a four walled garden and has lots of sun so it is a bit early.
I have never seen pineapple mint. I will look at the garden center for it.

  8. Hi Catherine, So nice to see your photographs, the white azaleas are magnificent! Your garden is certainly ahead of ours here near Vancouver BC.
My golden plum is in full bloom as are the star magnolias and narcissi. My tulips are just opening and there are buds on the espalier apples and pears. I have even dug out my compost! Hurrah! It really is Spring.
Enjoy the warmer weather and all the beauty nature offers.

Your garden sounds magnificent. I will have to look up a golden plum to see one. We don't have those here. Espalier apples and pears... WOW! I do hope you will post some photos on your blog I would love to see those too. XXX

  9. Thank you for the photos of such beautiful Spring flowers. I dream of Spring, or even Autumn! It is supposed to be autumn here in Australia but we have just had days of summer weather - yesterday was 35 degrees in Sydney which is about 100 degrees Fahrenheit!

  11. Thank you Linda. Spring is my favorite time of year too. Though this one is going to be very short before the awful hot weather begins.
Now that your weather is getting cold, maybe it is time you started on that lovely house again. ;-) XXX
