I usually don't post the progress pictures until around the 18th of the month. I
finished the interior of the carpet this morning and had to take it off the
frame to turn it around. Once I get it back on, most of what I have stitched
will be rolled up on the bars again.
Now... off to the borders. That wider one looks like it is going to be a nightmare. I am glad I didn't start there. I think I would have thrown the whole thing out the window if I had tried to teach myself how to do this from there..
This is a big carpet. Finished it is 11 X 8 1/2 inches.
Catherine, this is simply the most beautiful carpet I've Ever seen.... big or small!!! Fantastic work! Your perseverance and care for details is remarkable! I am so glad you are posting about this as you go... It is very inspiring and instructive to see your progress! I Just LOVE it!!!
ReplyDeleteAwww thank you so much. I have felt a little bad about only posting about this carpet. There has been no time to do anything else really.
ReplyDeletei have asked myself what the heck the hurry is. The only answer I have is... I want it now. haha
I am floored! ooo a pun :) this is amazing progress, absolute perfection......words escape me.....
ReplyDeleteThank you Linda!
DeleteI adore seeing your progress on this masterpiece......I was going to write 'mini' masterpiece.....but for something so small it does take a HUGE effort!!!! Keep going....I long to see the completed rug.
ReplyDeleteIt is Catherine S's master piece. She did a fantastic job charting the carpet. I am just the trained monkey stitching it. haha
DeleteIt's too gorgeous for words! I'm full of envy!! I can't wait to see some furniture around it and on it,whilst the suspense is killing me it's a great part of it! Keep going, you're almost there! x
ReplyDeleteThank you Sarah. I can't wait myself. I hope I will like it next to the furniture I have.
DeleteIt is unbelievable what you do with a little thread!
ReplyDeleteActually a whole lot of thread. I wonder what the pile would look like if it were all taken out. haha
DeleteFantastic work Catherine, your stitching speed is amazing, there are a lot of stitches in this carpet.
ReplyDeleteThank you Elga. Just a lot of hours.
DeleteSerá una alfombra maravillosa
ReplyDeleteGracias.
ABSOLUTELY MAGNIFICENT! You must be so happy to have steadily persevered to get to this point! You are so close to having it completed now.
ReplyDeleteHow Exciting!!! :D
elizabeth
Thank you Elizabeth. I really appreciate you taking time to leave me a comment.
DeleteI don't think I am that close to being finished. The hardest part remains and there are several square inches left to stitch. I am sort of dreading this next phase. ;-0
Dear Catherine, it is an amazing work of art. I can only imagine how demanding it must be to keep the stitches correctly counted and such good tension. Please tell me again where you will use it?
ReplyDeleteRegards Janine
Thank you Janine!
ReplyDeleteI hope to use it in the living room of an English cottage.
Your perseverance and dedication to this piece is certainly showing, the carpet is stunning. And have I mentioned how much I like the colours? ;-)
ReplyDeleteThank you Josje. I still have a long way to go. I excited to see what the dark navy in the border does to set off the rest of it.
ReplyDeleteYou must be nearly there by now Catherine, hope you and yours (including Kilmouski) have had a lovely Christmas and best wishes for the New Year!
ReplyDeleteHi Margaret,
ReplyDeleteChristmas slowed things up a bit. I am into the wider border now though. There are a lot of square inches of those last two borders.
Thank you for the X-Mas wishes. I hope you had a good one too.
