Welcome Merlin

We have a new addition to the cat family. He is just beautiful, even though his blue eyes are a little crossed.

I wondered why he kept hanging around here.  My next door neighbor told me he had been abandoned for the SECOND TIME by neighbors who claimed they couldn't catch him before moving away. HUH? This is one of the sweetest cats I have ever known. He is so affectionate. He runs to meet me every time I go outside. If I sit outside at the table he either lays on my feet or lays right in front of me on the table.

I would hate to tell you what I would like to do to people who abandon animals. It just kills me.

So now I have four cats. Three outside with heated houses (Puffy, Groupie and Merlin). All were abandoned. And of course Kilmouski he doesn't go outside.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Holiday. Wishing all my Followers a Very Happy 2015!

  1. I am sure Merlin found his real home now he met you ;)
I am glad for both of you and like you I just can't understand how people can abandon animals that gave them entire trust and true love.
Many hugs to you and your cats (I am a cat lover too)

    1. I think I knew you were a cat lover. I never thought about owning a cat until the first stray arrived at my back door 16 years ago. I hear a meow at my back door one night. When I opened it I saw a gorgeous cat and said... Hi won't you come in for a can of tuna? That was it. We were buddies until I lost him.

  7. Be happy, that they moved away and left him for you. He is absolutely gorgeous and he'd make me smile every time with his crossed eyes:)))
I also can't understand how someone could abandon animals. If they don't want him any more, they could have searched a new home for him. But now he got the best home he could get:).
I wish all of you a happy 2015

  8. I once had a dog that the previous owners tried to abandon twice, and the dog hunted them down both times. When I got him, the owners said to keep the dog in the house for at least 2 weeks so that the dog wouldn't find them again. We did and it was 2 solid weeks of howling and crying that we had to endure, as well as trying to get out of the front door without the dog pushing past us. At least Merlin already loves you. My dog remained resentful for a very long time.

    1. Oh how sad! That poor dog and you too for all the grief. You were so sweet to offer him a good home

People don't understand animals. They think all sorts of ignorant things. Like he has a fur coat so he won't be cold. Grrrr That fur is hardly more then a sweater is for us.

  9. Catherine, he does look like a sweetie. I too hate animals being abandonned - my dog is my whole world and I could never leave her behind under any circumstances. He will be a lovely addition to your family.

  11. I am happy for you both, people can be so cruel. I recently lost my little puddy tat companion after 18 years and I miss her everyday so I can't imagine moving house and leaving a member of the family behind.

    1. I am very sorry for your loss.

I totally agree. How someone could do that is so foreign to me.

  15. Oddly enough he has been hanging around for a year. I kept seeing him sitting on my brick walls. I thought he was trying to make friends with my cats. ;-)
