Please forgive the temporary set up for this photo. I wanted the furniture to show up in the picture.
I have made and collected lots of things for a bedroom and a kitchen. Now I am working on making and collecting things for the living room.
This lovely high back Windsor chair arrived today from Colin Bird. I am so pleased to have it. To say it exceeded my expectations is an understatement. Colin's skills are everything they were reported to be. He is a true master! I certainly will be ordering from him again soon.
I made the brass lamp, Frank Whittemore made the blue glass shades and hurricanes for it. The glass is a much prettier color than it appears in this shot. It is a royal deep blue. The little violets on the stool were stitched on 60 count silk gauze.
Fabulous furniture!!
ReplyDeleteSo very beautiful all together. I admire your skills!

Fab, fab, fab! Don't tell me that you did the stiching too? Is there anything you can't do? :D
ReplyDeleteBeing as lazy as I am, I am waiting for you to open your own Etsy store, Catherine!;) I love the lamp! Not to mention the rest minis on your photos!
ReplyDeleteMorning Catherine,
ReplyDeleteYour new chair is perfect, I so enjoy seeing all the wonderful pieces you are buying/collecting and making....I now have very high expectation of what the rooms will be like...the word 'perfect' springs to mind!!
Warmest Regards on a very chilly Tasmanian morning!

Ira,
ReplyDeleteYes, I am stitcher. I rarely do counted work like this though.
I was designing surface hand embroidery for a magazine in Australia but I got really bored with two dimensional work. Plus it was waaaay too much sitting time for me. I also hated writing the stitch guides.
i am in awe of your talent and of the many clever people with this very serious addiction!! the mind boggles... is there nothing that can be reproduced in miniature!!lovely.....
ReplyDeleteBeautiful furniture Catherine, the Windsor chair is so finely carved and your lamp is gorgeous, your the stitchery also. I know what you mean about the stitch guides etc, I sub-edit several craft magazines and some of the projects are very involved.
ReplyDeleteWowser!
ReplyDeleteSimply beautiful!
