Monday Morning.
I never would have believed it. Two weeks ago I went to get some glasses, I took all the tests with the all the new fancy machines and left without being able to get a prescription and had appointment with a surgeon.
Loosing your sight happens so slowly. I spend so much of my time looking at something very tiny, sometimes as long as 12 hours. I just kept increasing the magnification, while trying to look through waxed paper basically! I was so shocked to find out I have cataracts. I thought it was something that happened much later in life but I have a friend that told me she had hers removed at age 33.
Tomorrow morning is the day. Keep your fingers crossed for me. What is my biggest problem with something this quick & simple...I hate handing the over the tools!!! ;-)

Oh dear, you are young but it truly happens even at your age.
ReplyDeleteI suppose you have been well informed about the operation: it's absolutely quick, painless and highly satisfactory when it comes to results.
You'll be very happy on Monday afternoon and even more Tuesday morning.
I wish we were closer since this is part of my job.
Best wishes but I know that everything will be fine. Minihugs Rosanna
Catherine will go well and you'll be fine I am sure!
ReplyDeleteYou'll be fine tomorrow - thinking of you.
ReplyDeleteDear Catherine, I shall pray for you.
ReplyDeleteHugs Kati
Every good wish for tomorrow!!! :o)) My God Mother recently had hers done and she is on the road to recovery. At least they have caught yours and your eyesight should be as good as new.
ReplyDeleteI know you'll be fine! (((hugs)))

Keeping my fingers crossed for you, I send the best wishes and prayers. I too know you will be fine! Hugs
ReplyDeletePiece of cake, Catherine...really. You'll be just fine. These things can creep up on us at any age. I've heard that living in a predominantly sunny climate (like the South) can cause cataracts to develope much early than one would think.
ReplyDeleteI'll be thinking about you tomorrow, as will we all, my friend.
Good Luck! I´ll keep my fingers crossed tomorrow and think of you! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteI also think of you! Good luck.
ReplyDeleteAlexandra.

ReplyDeletepasado y en poco tiempo estaras perfecta, te deseo buena suerte.Besos desde España.
I forgot to add there are different types of cataracts and my God Mother had a different type in each eye.
ReplyDeleteChin up and it will be over before you know it. :o))

Wishing you all the best for tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteDeep breath and imagine how much your eye sight will be improved.
Catherine, You will be fine dear! It is such an easy op and done so frequently. I have just discovered that wearing sunglasses can avoid this. Too bad I didn't know that when I was younger. It reminds me of something I heard.....
ReplyDeleteMr. Wong went to his eye doctor for his annual exam and the doctor said..."Mr. Wong, I see you have cataract." Mr. Wong replied..."Oh no, I have Rincoln Continental."
:) You will be in my thoughts tomorrow!
Best of luck tomorrow, I bet you'll be fine! I hope you'll recover soon. I understand about handin over the tools though ;) but you'll be fine
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, that would have been a shock for sure. Hoping all goes well and that you'll be back in action in no time at all.
ReplyDeleteI'll be praying for you, Catherine. It will be over before you know it. I'll be thinking of you tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteAs you know, I have already wished you well, I shall certainly be thinking of you and how absolutely dangerous (miniature wise)you will be once you get your sight back!
ReplyDeleteGood Luck!!!!
I also think of you today and keep my fingers crossed!!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Karin

Dear Catherine, today is a holiday here in Italy, so I can spend the ENTIRE day with my fingers crossed for you (even the feet!)
ReplyDeleteMoreover, technology now allows you to perform cataract surgery in a quick and painless. My mother-in-law did this last fall and now can read again and drive without glasses, after so many years ...
Thinking of you with affection and waits for news :-)
Mini hugs, Flora
Take care and get well soon!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteLove,
Thinking of you and I also hate being on the other side of the tools, but seeing clearly will be worth it all!!!
ReplyDeleteGood luck. All will be right and you will see better than ever. A warm hug, Drora
ReplyDeleteYou will be all right Catherine!!
ReplyDeleteLike Flora, I will pray for you with all my fingers, the toes and my thoughts!
Bon courage!

Everything will be alright, Catherine! Do not worry, it's easy!
ReplyDeleteA big hug.
I'm hoping this finds you relaxed and enjoying your new eyes! Best wishes for a speedy recovery!
ReplyDeleteAll the best Catherine! Your eyes are so precious!!! This is major when making miniatures... I hope it all went as smooth as possible and you feel relieved. I take it they've done just one eye? Good luck with walking up the hill again, i pray your eyesight will get better and better with each day.
ReplyDeleteHi Catherine, New to your blog but not your work.
ReplyDeleteI have enjoyed it on the CDHM web site all year.
In fact it was what got me here today. I was looking for a kitchen that I fell in love with months ago and Lauretta told me it was your kitchen. I searched high and low looking for it yesterday, because I loved it so much!
It is the inspiration for my kitchen in my first doll house. I am not going to copy it. I just found it so wonderful in it's details, color and design that I wanted to capture that feel in my first doll house.
I have had time to go through your blog pictures and am truly blown away by all your pieces. Such wonderful art work!
My hubby had cataract surgery this year and it was a huge improvement in his life. I do hope you heal soon and get back to the miniatures you do so well! Thanks for inspiring me with your designs. Christina "Precious Heirlooms"
