This is a copper chafing dish I finished this week. The stand is sterling silver. Not exactly realistic for such an item I suppose. The reason I made it in silver is because I only had half round wire in sterling. I do like the look of these two metals together though. The tapered legs and the feet were all done with a needle file. The knob and handle are made out of African black wood. Now that I see the photos I think I will take them off and turn something that isn't so heavy. I also made another basket that is holding the lemons.
BTW... Does blogland seem a bit quiet to you lately?
....yet again another wonderful piece, I love it!!!
ReplyDeleteBlogland usually gets a bit quite this time of the year...(unfortunately)...I think it is because all the Europeans are enjoying their summer holidays!
Linda
Wow - it looks fanastic....I like the way the two metals look together. Yes, it does seem quiet, I think? Maybe it is too hot where some people live and too cold where others live!!
ReplyDeleteyou do such beautiful work... the silver and copper compliment each other so nicely...
ReplyDeleteA FANTASTIC work,Catherine !!!!
ReplyDeleteI love your copper fondue pan .
Karin
Love it! Beautiful work as usual Catherine!
ReplyDeleteYes, seems to me the blogland is quiet for some time now :)
Fabulous Catherine, and why not in silver? I'm sure many an aristocratic table could expect to be graced by such a beauty, why not yours? If you feel it's a bit 'rich' for the profile of your household you could always pretend they bought it on Ebay for a bargain price from a banker down on his luck ;)
ReplyDeleteCatherine, your work is always wonderful.
ReplyDeleteIt is quite in Blogland. At the moment in the UK, all the Schools have broken up for the Summer Holidays, and don't go back until the beginning of September.
It's a lovely piece and the two metals work very well together. I also like the little green glasses set to the side.
ReplyDeleteThe foundue pot is just amazing! I love it! And I really like the black handle and knob :) The whole setting is so beautiful, now all you need is the fondue sticks :D And a bowl of chopped up meat & sauces :D
ReplyDeleteThe two metals together work very well, and the quality of your work is the highest, as usual, Catherine! It's a beautiful fondue!!
ReplyDeleteThe lemon basket's so neat and fine - I like it very much!
Yes blogland seems quiet to me, too - I was wondering if people in the northern hemisphere are either too hot to do anything, or on vacation, or something.
Your work is amazingly real!!
ReplyDeleteYes, blogland is relaxing. Part of us are enjoying summer holiday. I think that this is the reason :)
Another great little piece, Catherine. I have always liked the look of copper and silver together. As a matter of fact, I have a large (real life)chafer made of those two materials, though I seldom use it, except for occasionally at the holidays.
ReplyDeleteAs for the blogs, I find, when I am working on a project, I forget to blog. For me ,it is partly about the pictures. I take them poorly and even then it requires many attempts and I often don't get WIP photos and then I say, "who'd be interested" and that's the end of that. :-)
The wonder of your pieces always leaves me breathless!
ReplyDeleteYour table spread looks like a still life by Caravaggio (Caravaggio I LOVE) and I think that your taste is unequaled :-)
Linda is right: the blogosphere is sleepy because at least in our hemisphere are almost all on holiday, unfortunately, and apparently without internet connection!
People go to sea and away from home is very well, no time to create.
I'm also a little disappointed, I like the excitement :-)
Your fongue set looks lovely!
ReplyDeleteAs for your comment regarding how quiet blogland is: I haven't noticed. Having had several sets of family visit here for the past two weeks, I have over 400 blog postings to read! I can only hope it stays quiet, if that's what's happening.
hugs Karin
Another beautiful piece, Catherine. I just love all the details on your table - everything is so perfect! Cynthia
ReplyDeletethe set is amazing! looks sooooo real!
ReplyDeleteThank you all for taking your time to leave such kind comments. :-))
ReplyDeleteNorma,
OMG!!! LOL hahaha You have such a GREAT sense of humor.I am going to send your post to my friend who is a banker. She will LOVE it.
It's beautiful and jawdropping as always Catherine, I am amazed as ever at your talent!
ReplyDeleteEmma
Hello Catherine, first time poster here.
ReplyDeleteI shall just echo what has already been said regarding your metalwork but, I am equally impressed by the brickwork on the wall behind, me predominately being into buildings over their embellishments as you already know from my blog. Please, do tell me about the bricks etc, or where on your blog I may find out more information how it was constructed. It looks VERY convincing.
Regards
Ian
Amazing work, like always perfect to the last detail.Hugs,Jeannette
